Cornish Tin Pendant in the shape of a traditional Cornish Pasty. There are many stories about the evolution of the pasty's shape. In Cornwall the D-shape enabled tin miners to re-heat them underground as well as eat them safely. The crust was used like a handle which was then discarded due to the high levels of arsenic in many of the tin mines. An unusual gift to give to realtives and friends living away from Cornwall, a wonderful reminder of home and a great way to own a little piece of Cornish history. Made from 100% Cornish Tin, mined at South Crofty before closure in 1998 and reserved for our exclusive use. |
